Bed Bugs Treatment and Control

Bed Bugs Treatment and Control

What are bed bugs?
Bed bugs can be found almost anywhere. Bed bugs like to hide in the daylight in order to go without detection, so they can feed on a blood host during the night.  Bed bugs are super pesky insects, and they can be found in mattresses, headboards, bed frames, bedside tables, couches, futons, and even movie theater seats! During a bed bug inspection, we even check the power outlets because that's one way these monsters can move through your house.

Bed bugs are extremely small creatures. In most cases, they don't get much larger than about 3/16”. Adult bed bugs are brown, flattened, oval, wingless insects. Bed bugs need a blood host to survive, and unfortunately for us, they prefer human blood. They will, however, snack on other creatures—even lizards and snakes!

One misconception about bed bugs is that they attracted to filth, but bed bug infestations are not signs of poor sanitation or cleanliness. They simply want a blood host and are looking for their next meal.

How can I tell if I have Bed Bugs?
These stealthy creatures, who prefer to stay away from light, can be difficult to spot due to their size. Believe it or not, a bed bug infestation is possible even if you've never seen one! If conditions aren’t ideal for them, bed bugs can lie dormant for six months to a year without a blood host!

Here are some signs to look out for in case you fear a bed bug infestation:
  • Blood stains that look like dark or rusty spots on your bed linens, mattresses, or even the walls
  • Live Bed Bugs that are reddish-brown in color and look similar to an apple seed
  • Egg shells or skin casings
  • Large infestations of bed bugs can lead to a sweet smell very similar to the smell of raspberries.
What can I do if I think I may have Bed Bugs?
If you suspect a bed bug infestation in your home or business, call Champion Pest Management to schedule an appointment for a thorough bed bug inspection and estimate. We will examine your home for bed bugs including beds and bedding, mattress seams, bed frames molding, bedroom clutter, personal items, furniture creases and crevices, cracks in wooden floors, around baseboards, and more.

After treatment, we will return for an inspection of the previously infested site. By this time, it is expected that the bed bugs will be eliminated. If there are remaining bed bugs, they will be treated and a final inspection will be scheduled if necessary.
