The most common type of bedbug is the Cimex lectularius. These guys are nasty enough, but recently there have been reports of the return of the Tropical Bed Bug in Florida. This species of bedbug hasn't been reported in over 60 years, and there is a fear it could be making a come back. What's the big deal? A Bedbug is a Bedbug...Right? It's true, these bugs behave in a very similar fashion to the Common Bedbug; however, the Tropical Bedbug will be more prevalent in Southern states due to the overall warmer climate if they begin to spread. The spreading of this particular species is the scary part. Previous research on the tropical bedbug shows that they tend to spread much more rapidly than the common bedbug. What this means is that a Tropical Bedbug infestation will colonize faster, reproduce faster, and become a huge pain to control faster. Can These Guys Get to Me?
